Boxy for "Inbox by Gmail" App Reviews

Notifications don’t work like Inbox intends

This app is great, but there needs to be an option to have the notifications work the way they do on the mobile apps — where only unbundled emails, planned trip emails, and reminders/snoozed emails. Right now it just notifies me of everything, which I do not want, and is the only thing keeping me from using the application.

Great Dropbox Mailbox Replacement

I was stressing over what Mail app to switch to when the Mailbox app was discontinued by Dropbox. After digging around for a while I stumbled onto Boxy and I haven’t looked back since. Beautiful design and very simple to use. I’m a light email user so I can only speak from that perspective but I’m completely satisfied with it. Great job!

Not Exactly Bad, Definitely Not Good

The app is just a very basic inbox, feels exactly like Inbox by Gmail from IOS, without any additional feature. The icon in the menu bar is not doing anything other than changing color when unread icon exists. I would love to have a global shortcut to activate the menubar icon to get a small window dropped down from it just like Fantastical did. The app is pretty minimalist, and so is the price, but if it has more features, I would buy it even it’s more expensive. Or if minimalist is the goal then putting the entire app under the menubar icon is not a bad idea. Right now I don’t see a point to buy it.

New version is great!

The devs really responded to users in this new update. Tons of new features and all for the better. I’m using this as my main emial client now. The last thing I’d like to see is notifications and unread count for only unbundled emails.

Main email client

This is my one email client now. If you like Google Inbox and want a separate app for it outside of the browser, this works well and has some nice extra features (Markdown, cool!). I’ve encountered a couple of bugs in the older version, but reloading fixed ‘em. Recommended.

Killer update, really added some great new features.

I was limping along with Mailbox for a while and then transitioned to inbox a few months ago. The web client was great but really prefer working in a desktop app. Boxy has been great so far and seems like the team is really invested in building a great experience. Thumbs up.

Great app, with continual stream of improvements

Like many others here I am a heavy user of Google’s mail system, and really like the Inbox. I too, however, wanted a desktop experience. Boxy faithfully recreates the web experience, and seems to be actively developing and fixing bugs. So far it runs really well, with only the occasional glitch where I need to restart it. Otherwise it has been a very pleasant experience.

Need option for Multiple Signatures

I’m retired and volunteer with 3 non profits. I currently use apple’s email and previously MS Outlook. Both programs offered the option to select a different signature depending on the emial being send. The other email programs also allowed for graphics in the signature. To the Boxy folks, pls add this ASAP as its an essential necessity for anyone affiliated with different organizations. Without it the program use is limited to a certain population of users. Add this feature and I’ll give you 5 stars.

Fabulous

Love the work the devs have done to wrap Googles Inbox, but they really need to support printing—several times a day I need to archive emails or save email receipts as PDFs for my bookkeeper.

Broken

It’s currently broken, and does not work. It was fine, but now it will show every box as empty. They should take it off the store.

Beautiful and intuitive. Nicely done!

I’ve been waiting for an Inbox client for a while now. Boxy brings all the awesomeness of Inbox to a standalone app so i don’t have to run Inbox through my browser, and therefore don’t have to search for the Inbox tab amongst all the others I have open. The interface is a perfect port of Inbox, and it’s a joy to be able to use without the browser chrome and clutter surrounding it, and without havin to run the browser in fullscreen mode to ditch the chrome and clutter. Again, nicely done.

Totally non-functional…do not buy until fixed

I loved this until my “trial” ended. I purchased in the app store and now the application stopped working. All I see is empty folders for every label.
