Boxy for "Inbox by Gmail" App Reviews

112 Customer Reviews:

Works great, does everything you’d want.

Best standalone Inbox wrapper. The only issue is the reliability of notifications.

I love Inbox. It’s a beautiful, intuitive, simple email interface. Boxy is equally beautiful and simple, but it freezes often. At least once a day I have to force quit and reopen the application, which makes me want to just use Inbox in my browser. I’d rather use an app, but the bugs might force me back to Google. I expected more from a paid app, and I hope they fix these bugs soon.

Great app, but there is a bug that where you’ll be stuck at the “Almost done!” screen if you try linking a Gmail account that doesn’t have access to Inbox.

Seriously, Boxy is the real deal, guys. I thought it’d just be another broken web wrapper like everything else on the App Store, but no, this is a true Inbox conversion into a proper Mac app. If you’re an Inbox fan, this app is a must-have. Beautifully designed.

Not bad, but I’m not sure why, as a modern OS X app, this doesn’t support full-screen in El Capitan. A lightweight app like this would be a natural pairing in split screen mode with Messages, but the support isn’t there...

Like many reviewers, I used the Mailbox desktop beta well past its sell-by date until it was finally, officially, mercifully put out of its misery. I cast about for a replacement — I dislike the built-in Mac Mail app, and really wanted something with Mailbox’s premiere feature of “snoozing” messages for automatic reminders at a later time or date. It turns out that “Inbox by Gmail” supports a “snooze” function, but there was no native Mac app and I wasn’t about to go back to webmail. Boxy is the solution. It’s a native wrapper for Inbox, supports all the features I need, has an extremely responsive and active developer, and it’s fast and pretty to boot.

This is a fantastic app. It’s built well; however, it lacks fullscreen support which is annoying. The app is well supported, so I expect this will be added in the future.

Pretty, but non-functional

Can’t send attachments (drag and drop adds attachment, but it never attaches). Doesn’t support chat.

Beware - it does not work with all Gmail accounts

It does not work with Google Apps for Education accounts. If your account cannot access Gmail Inbox, this will not work...

Nothing more that web-wersion

If you wanna buy this app - just pin Inbox tab in your browser. You will get the same.

Maccult.ru · 10 years ago

I think it’s just a web view to Google’s Inbox - which you can leave open in a browser window someplace. I bought it just for the slight extra convenience.DO NOT click on a G+ link, it takes over the webview.

This is the app we all needed for Inbox. Though it is still version 1, they are the only ones out there and it works pretty darn good. There have been a few buggy things, but the developer is addressing them and even just released an update to address some of those things. Well done Boxy, you’ll quickly become the replacement for Mailbox.

Good idea to have native app for Google’s attempts to make email management more feasible. But if you are going to make a native app why not make use of the customization that being native to Mac allows? Currently I cannot put boxy in Full Screen Mode. Also it would be nice to be abale to shift the width of the sidebar by dragging, most mac apps allow this. I cannot read many of my nested gmail folders because the limited left sidebar cuts them off. Please include these features in new releases.

Good App

Has some bugs but for the most part, I like it.

Overall, very refreshing and much nicer than my current method of using Inbox (single site browser). Still needs full screen support (pretty please?!) and I’m looking forward to further updates.

This app definitely helps fill a void the Mailbox is leaving behind. My biggest complaint at the moment is no control over notifications. Since this is brand new, I’ll give it 4 stars and hope to be able to give 5 in the near future.

This is a clean great way of keepping up with your inbox[es]. Works also great with mulitiple account, although, going from account to accont is a little slow. Takes about 3 to 4 seconds regarding of your internet speed. I hope the developers keep it CLEAN and FAST. Better to have FEW GREAT feautures instead of LOSTA SLOW ones. Would be great to have the Contacts also inside the app instead of via a external link. Keep up the good work! GREAT APP ;-)

I like Boxy. Here are the things that would make it a 5-Star App for me: 1) Resource utilization work… I am running on a 12” macbook, and Boxy CPU utilization usually overs around 50%, killing my battery life. 2) Full screen support! I’d like to run Boxy as a full screen app. I’m looking forward to future versions!
